Biking Bliss

I got my first proper bike in 8th standard. It was a long wait getting this bike. It was a handed down from Uncle. The bike had sat on the side of the house for 5 years. Bike was refreshed and handed to me. It was existing to ride the bike. There were lots of problems with the bike. The seat was not replaced, it was from the old bike, the folded seat had become flat from excessive sun exposure. It was irritating to ride the bike, but the excitement of getting a bike was high, I was happy to overlook all the problems with the bike. I enjoyed riding the biking to MMHS. There was a long and continuous uphill in front of Maris ( I felt it was long ) . I would even ride with a pillion on the bike. It was a simpler times, my goal would be to clear the incline without sopping.

Fast forward 5- 10 - 15 - 25 years ( 1992 - 2020 )

Moving to Pleasanton was a courageous move at that the time . We moved here in 2019 December. One of the reason for choosing this property was its proximity to the hiking trails. I have come to enjoy the Pleasanton ridge on a bike. Riding bike on these uneven roads is fun, especially the downhill part is the best. First few attempts to climb the Adobe trail heading up the Pleasanton ridge was tough. I took many many attempts before I could reach the top of the rider. It was a great feeling of accomplishment. Riding up the ridge was just the beginning. Coming down was not fun in the earlier days, I used to be braking all the time, the bike was also basic, the breaks were primitive. This started a cycle of watching youtube videos of riders , learning , practicing with each and every ride. I was also continuously upgrading my bike. I am tempted to write about the upgrade process, but that is a long story in itself.

It has been a fun couple of years, pandemic has helped me ride more regularly.

Shredding the trail, having fun riding down faster on off camber trails.

Building the building

We have put a lot of sweat and hard earned money towards constructing our new house, hope we stay there long enough and enjoy our stay as well. It has taken us 2 years to reach this point. I have to write down what I remember. SITE  I remember the first time when Arun told me about site 601. There were 2 sites for sale, one was priced close to 4000 per sqft and another site for 3700, the second site was a dead end site, I was ok with the dead end site. Arun agreed look at the second site itself since it was priced slightly less. This was site 601. One fine Sunday when Dad was visiting us , me Arun and Dad went to see the site. We spoke to the broker, offered him 50rs per sqft if the price was brought down to 3500. That worked, thanks to Dad for that Idea :). Then the process of talking to the owner over phone and securing money for advance started. Since the owner was based in UK much of the conversation happened over email of phone. He agreed to visit us in a couple of week...

Beeing Dad

It took me and dad a couple of days to decide on the birth date. Finally July 15 th 9 AM was chosen as the date. With all this planning destiny had a surprise planned. While I was told to expect a baby boy ( Because of a astrological combination in my horoscope ), doctor Sushma Akka came out and said here is the baby girl :D. It has been a loooooong 9 months. I’m very excited to meet my daughter , I’m looking forward to help her develop as a complete individual. It’s been 5 weeks since our princess was born ( July 15 th ). My patriotic feelings are souring since I have just the documentary on Rajeev Gandhi I wish she can sever our great country in ways that I could not :)
